Skin Needling
Introduction
At SkinSmart we use the Dermapen Skin Needling Device. Skin Needling or Collagen Induction Therapy ( CIT ) is a treatment used to improve your skin texture, smooth mild wrinkles and fine lines, reduce pore size and soften pigment and scars. The treatment is suitable for all skin types and for areas including the face, neck, décolletage, and hands.
Description
A Local Anaesthetic cream is applied to the skin 30 mins prior to the procedure and the treatment is generally not considered painful. The skin is then cleaned thoroughly and a hyaluronic acid serum is applied to the surface. The Dermapen tip glides smoothly over the skin with the micro needles entering the skin vertically between 50 to 150 times per second creating hundreds of small passages into the skin. This triggers a wound healing response and cell proliferation occurs resulting in the formation of new collagen and elastin. At SkinSmart we recommend combining the treatment with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP). During the needling procedure the PRP is infused into the skin releasing growth factors which boost the results and shorten the healing time. The needling treatment also infuses peptides and antioxidants hydrating the skin and making it firmer, smoother and fresher. A silicon gel is applied at the end of the procedure to lock in the PRP.
The treatment usually takes around an hour.
Downtime
On the day of the treatment your skin will look red and you may have some minor bronzing or light scabbing. The following day you may have slight swelling and possibly some patchy redness . Over the next few days the skin may peel a little however, within a few days to a week your skin will start looking refreshed and healthy and feel silky smooth.
It is very important to keep the skin protected and well hydrated especially during the healing phase following the treatment and regular application of moisturiser and sunscreen is essential.
Cost
The skin needling costs $400 and $600 with PRP.
